BANANA WINE MAKING

Most of the friuts produced in Malawi are wasted away because of lack of food preservation and processing factories and Banana comes as a king food crop, ready to be industrialised in Malawi.

According to the Malawi Poverty Reduction Strategy, the Government of Malawi intends to increase agricultural incomes to ensure food security. To achieve this goal, DEMAT will strive to improve access to domestic and internal markets through the development of local agro-storage and processing industrry.

Banana farming brings tangible income for the rural families because of its good organo-leptic and chemical qualities making it adapted for industrial processing.

DEMAT has embarked on processing banana into white and sparkling wine. DEMAT has the appropriate Technologies for implementation of the Banana Wine Project.
